Kristin Chase
My name is Kristin Chase. I have been practicing Massage Therapy since March 2010 (graduated with an Assoc in Massage Therapy GPA 3.62) and Reiki since 2006. I love walking and riding bike when I can. More then that I love being out in nature and taking mini road trips to get out of the cities at least once a week during the “warm” months. I started my practice in massage with a Deep Tissue focus. It’s something that I was really good at even in college. It’s earned me the names like Brunhilde and A Cheerful Sadist, as well as a Problem Solver.
However, over the past couple years my practice has been changing to a more gentler approach by including more Reiki and and Energy Intuitive work into my sessions. I have noticed that while day to day physical work does take a toll on the body, there is usually and underlining emotional energetic pattern as well. Which is changing the way I practice my craft in subtle and obvious ways.
EXPLORE MASSAGE THERAPY
I have seen more progress by working with both bodywork and energy work in the past couple years than just massage alone, especially when my patients are also willing to do their homework. Once they are willing to do the work outside of the sessions, they can move mountains. It’s so very humbling to see.
Education
I was certified in Reiki Level I & II in January 2004. In the following Summer of 2006, I took the Master Practitioner level in Reiki. I attended Rasmussen College from 2008 – 2010, majoring in an Associate’s Degree in Massage Therapy and graduated in March 2010 with a 3.62 GPA. I then took the national certification with NCBTMB now BCTMB in 2010. I have also continued my education through Center Point Massage School and ABMP through continuing education”
Deep Tissue Massage is a massage that generally focuses the deeper tissue, and thus has a deeper pressure technique that targets the deeper muscles within the body. As with all massage there is always the possibility of bruising, it is not intentional, but it can happen. With Relaxation massage this does not happen as much as it usually is considered a lighter tissue massage and more integration usually takes place.
I have a moderate to deep pressure during massage. I incorporate a variety of different techniques throughout the session to help work with the muscular and soft tissues.
Focused Outcome Based Massage is a primarily Deep Tissue massage focused outcome. This is for massage with a specific goal in mind that focuses on one or more issues as time allows. I liken this to an extreme workout that you have not had in a while. The primary pressure is generally Deep Tissue.
Integrated Massage is a blend of Deep Tissue and Relaxation Massage. It generally has one or two focuses and integrates a full body relaxation type of session depending on the time allowed.
Relaxation Massage doesn’t usually have a focus, it is generally a Full Body Relaxation session.
Reiki (RayKee) is a healing practice from Japan. That is used for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy
Reiki can be used as an integrative technique to help relax and calm the session, but it can also be utilized as a standalone session.
There are 7 standard hand positions for Reiki: top of the head, over the eyes or equivalent on the back of the head, neck, shoulders (optional), heart region, just above the naval, just below the naval, hips or buttocks/gluteal region. Additional hand positions can include arms and legs.
If you have any questions, please ask. If you are uncomfortable with the pressure or technique, again please do not hesitate to say something. The session can be changed and adapted to fit what you need. We have a massage check-in to fill out at the beginning of each session to help communicate what you are looking for in your session.
