Chiropractic Care
What Is Chiropractic?
When a new patient comes into her office, Dr. Katherine doesn’t assume they know how chiropractic works. She’ll usually grab her spine model to explain how the brain controls the whole body through the spinal cord. She shows how the cord comes down through the nerves, and connects from the tips of your fingers and toes, to your liver, spleen and pancreas; every part of the body is connected.
Next, she explains how the bones give structure, while the muscles control movement, like a group project. When one area is not functioning as it should, things get tight or stuck in one place, causing inflammation. Other parts of the body have to compensate, making the problem worse.
Dr. Katherine explains her job is “to squirt WD-40® up and down the spine” using adjustments. Chiropractors ensure your body has good function and range of motion. We make sure that all joints and bones are moving as they should, and muscles are responding appropriately.
Dr. Katherine describes her approach to chiropractic as a little aggressive. She does a lot of muscle work and uses more force with her adjustments, where appropriate. Some of her more muscular patients are surprised by the impact she can achieve for them.
Before any treatment, she always explains to her patients what she’s going to do and why. Depending on the severity of the condition, she will adjust treatment to get the best results.
Dr. Katherine likens chiropractic care to ice cream’s different flavors. There are many techniques out there from which to choose. She can use one or more techniques that you prefer. Whatever you decide, know that it will be focused on you; every care plan is customized to the patient’s needs. She uses a combination of techniques including Diversified, Thompson Drop, Activator and other manual techniques to provide patients with the highest quality of care.
